If the dreary weather and the dreadful monotony of the daily news are bringing you down, why not boost your endorphins by attending a show? From the Rural Alberta Advantage's lively folk-rock sing-alongs to the brutal death metal of Cattle Decapitation, there is plenty to see this week, and we've picked out the best for you in our weekly Can't Miss Concerts from October 19 to 25, below.

Julien Baker
 
Following up her 2015 debut, Sprained Ankle, Memphis singer-songwriter Julien Baker is set to drop her self-produced, sophomore album Turn Out the Lights next Friday (October 27). She'll treat Canadian fans to cuts from the new record in Toronto and Montreal this Tuesday (October 24) and Wednesday (October 25), respectively. We've already heard Baker's devastatingly angelic voice in full force on the LP's title track and "Appointments," so head to one of her shows to hear what the remaining nine songs have in store.

Ben Folds
 
On his unique, dynamic "Paper Airplane Request Tour," piano man Ben Folds is playing fan requests sent by way of — you guessed it — paper airplanes. Toronto fans of the beloved pianist can toss a paper plane in Folds' direction when he takes to the stage of the Phoenix on Tuesday (October 24).

Cattle Decapitation
 
San Diego extreme metal act Cattle Decapitation are currently on the road with fellow thrashers Revocation, Full of Hell and Artificial Brain. Sponsored by Exclaim! Aggressive Tendencies, "The North American Extinction Tour Part II: Inhuman Beings" will hit Edmonton, Calgary, Regina and Winnipeg this week.

Halifax Pop Explosion returns to Nova Scotia's capital this week, and a slew of talented acts are set to perform at venues across the city. Weaves, Clairmont The Second, METZ and Partner will celebrate their new records, and they'll be joined by the likes of Lido Pimienta, Charlotte Day Wilson, New Swears and Beliefs.

Vancouver duo Japandroids have been around the world and back this year in support of their most recent full-length, Near to the Wild Heart of Life. This week sees them performing to crowds in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto alongside Cleveland rockers Cloud Nothings.

Red Bull Sound Select presents 3 Days in Toronto
 
Curated by Red Bull Sound Select, "3 Days in Toronto" focuses exclusively on local talent that's helped put Ontario's capital city on the map. On October 19, OVO Sound affiliates Majid Jordan perform at The Great Hall with support from a l l i e, Chris Larocca and Nino Brown & Dre Ngozi. The following night, BADBADNOTGOOD take to Massey Hall featuring Charlotte Day Wilson and River Tiber, with additional surprise guests. Wrapping things up on Saturday (October 21) night, Jazz Cartier will host a hip-hop showcase at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, where Tory Lanez, CMDWN, KILLY and Killa Kells are set to appear.

If Zola Jesus's enthralling Toronto gig earlier this month was any indicator, fans in Vancouver won't want to miss her when she brings Okovi to VENUE Nightclub this Saturday (October 21). Accompanying the Wisconsin native are the equalling compelling Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Maria Usbeck.
