Yuck

"Hold Me Closer"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 8, 2015

Yuck have kept very busy since guitarist Max Bloom took over as frontman (following Daniel Blumberg's exit in 2013). With 2013's Glow & Behold and 2014's Southern Skies EP already behind them, the British '90s diehards have shared a new track called "Hold Me Closer" ahead of a new LP.

The song sports lumbering, fuzzy chords that prove that Yuck haven't lost any of their affection for '90s rock. The hooks are sweetly poppy, although the tinny vocal distortion means that the melodies are a little muddied.

Hear it below.

This song is the first taste of Yuck's next full-length. The album is apparently nearly complete, having been recorded in the band's London studio, and it will be out in early 2016. According to a press release, "Their new songs are wild and compact, centered and expansive, forward-thinking and referential."
