Yo La Tengo Reveal 'Fade' LP, Announce North American Tour
When Yo La Tengo revealed their recent Stupid Things EP, the New Jersey indie rock vets promised that they had a new full-length slated for 2013. Sure enough, the band have now announced plans to release Fade on January 15 through Matador.

The disc was recorded with John McEntire, a member of Tortoise and the Sea and Cake who has worked with the likes of Bright Eyes, Fiery Furnaces, Stereolab and countless others.

A press release points to past albums I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One (1997) and And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out (2000) as sonic touchstones, but notes that Fade has a unique character of its own. It features the title cut from Stupid Things, along with nine other tracks.

A description reads, "The 10-song collection, arguably the most focused and cohesive output from Ira, Georgia and James to date, is a tapestry of fine melody and elegant noise, rhythmic shadowplay and shy-eyed orchestral beauty, songcraft and experimentation."

You can pre-order Fade on standard CD or LP, or as a deluxe edition printed on rainbow foil that comes with a bonus 7-inch. This extra single contains two cover tunes: Todd Rundgren's "I Saw the Light" and Times New Viking's "Move to California." Vinyl copies also include a download coupon for an "exclusive 11-minute jam." You can pre-order a copy here.

Matador has promised to release a preview of the album (presumably the first single) tomorrow (November 15) at around 10 a.m. EST, so stay tuned.

In addition to the new album, Yo La Tengo have rolled out a pile of 2013 North American dates, including Canadian stops in Montreal and Toronto. You can see the schedule below the tracklist.
