The XX to Release Free Photo Zine Through Urban Outfitters

Earlier this year, Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino released her own clothing line through Urban Outfitters, and now the retailer is once again trying to keep up its indie cred, this time with a photo zine for British minimalists the XX.

This is the second issue of the The Tourist. The first issue, released in 2010, was also devoted to photos of the XX (although it wasn't released through Urban Outfitters). The new issue is called And We'll Be, Us, and like the first one, it contains exclusive shots of the band by photographer Jamie-James Medina.

While the XX's 2010 zine was limited to 500 copies, this one is being printed in a much larger run of 75,000 copies, which will be given away for free at Urban Outfitters stores throughout the U.S. and Canada starting tomorrow (October 6). It contains photos taken between May and August of this year, when the band were writing, recording and promoting their sophomore album, Coexist.

In addition to photos, it includes reproductions of handwritten lyrics by singers Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim. See a 40-second trailer for the zine below.

The XX launch a North American tour tonight with a show in Vancouver. The trip also includes a date in Toronto on October 23 and in Quebec City the day after. See the schedule here.
