The XX Release Free Mobile App for 'Coexist'

Back in 2010, the XX delved into the world of iPhone apps by releasing a cellphone version of their audio-sculpture collaboration with Saam Farahmand. Now, they've released another mobile app, this time for their sophomore album, Coexist.

This free app is intended as a companion piece to the new LP. Released through Young Turks, it is compatible with the iPhone (either 3GS, 4, 4S or 5), iPod touch (generations 3 through 5) or iPad. There's also an Android version.

The official product listing on iTunes describes the app like this: "The official app from the XX allows fans to immerse themselves in the band's new album Coexist. Watch exclusive videos for every song on the new album, play with an interactive version of the Coexist artwork, and receive messages direct from the band."

It includes visuals for every song on Coexist, all of the XX's official music videos, lyrics, access to purchase tickets and merch, and "an interactive version of the Coexist artwork which reacts to your touch, movement and environment."

This app follows closely behind the band's photo zine, which was released through Urban Outfitters last month.
