Way back in 2010, respected actor Joaquin Phoenix seemingly lost his mind and launched a rap career. The stunt was revealed as a hoax, and served as fodder for his excellent I'm Still Here mockumentary. Apparently he's not done with the rap game, however, as he'll make an appearance on Pusha T's long-awaited My Name Is My Name LP.
The album was originally scheduled for release last month, but Pusha chose to make some final touches on the project. That included a sit-down with G.O.O.D. Music honcho Kanye West, who played Pusha some new beats. Among them? A production from Joaquin Phoenix.
"When I heard it I knew it was mine, man," Pusha T told Vibe about the beat. "Soon as I heard it I was like, 'Listen. I hope you're not playing this for me just to show me how good this beat is.' Of course I ended up with it.... There's no production in the world that is better than this album right now. Let's be real, My Name is My Name is the best-produced album, man."
Stay tuned for more information on the album's release date as it becomes available. If the whole thing winds up being a hoax for another mockumentary, we're going to be pissed.
