Wild Flag (Sleater-Kinney/Helium Supergroup) Share New Song, Prep Single for Record Store Day

Way back in September, we told you about Wild Flag, the awesomely named supergroup made up of former members of Sleater-Kinney, Helium and the Minders. Back then, it was announced that the outfit would soon be recording their debut disc for Merge Records, with a release date to be announced sometime in the near future. While the details on the full-length are scant, the group have now confirmed an upcoming seven-inch single to tease the album proper.

A post on Merge's website explains that Wild Flag will let loose the "Future Crimes"/"Glass Tambourine" single on Record Store Day (April 16). The two tracks were recorded by Spoon frontman Britt Daniel.

Here's what guitarist Carrie Brownstein told NPR about "Glass Tambourine":

"Glass Tambourine" is a song that exemplifies a lot of why I love being in Wild Flag. It starts off as a warped pop song and then veers into something more psychedelic. There are melodies, harmonies and then a fair amount of chaos. For this very reason, it's one of our favourite songs to play live.

You can stream the swirling psychedelic pop jam here, courtesy of NPR. You can also check out a live, albeit incomplete, clip of the tune below.

Brownstein went on to say that both tunes will be re-recorded for the full-length, which they will be recording with Chris Woodhouse. The album is expected to drop sometime this fall.
