Wilco Map Out North American Tour, Share "Tired of Taking It Out on You"

They've added dates in Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary

Wilco are due to release their new double album Cruel Country later this month, and now, Jeff Tweedy and co. have announced plans to take the record on a North American tour this summer.

After having lined up a one-off Toronto show with Bahamas and Kathleen Edwards in August, the band have now fleshed out a full US run, plus three Canadian dates. They'll hit Montreal's MTELUS on August 20, before making their way to Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre on September 21. In partnership with Calgary Folk Music Festival and Tooth Blackner, they'll play a lone Alberta date at Calgary's Jubilee Auditorium on September 23. The trek wraps up with a double-header in New Orleans on October 4 and 5.

In addition to today's tour news, the band have also shared a new single from the forthcoming Tweedy-penned record. "Tired of Taking It Out on You" arrives with another music video filmed at the Loft in Chicago, where the album was recorded.

Tweedy said of the track in a statement:

I've realized over the years that a lot of the songs I've written have worked as reminders to myself to pay attention to various things. Sometimes I think I've figured out how the world works in some small way, and I worry I'll forget it if I don't sing it back to myself occasionally. This song, I believe, is going to come in handy for just that purpose. I'm a person who needs to stay alert to how I'm treating others when I'm not feeling my best. And now that I mention it, when I look around, it seems like a lot of us have been taking things out on each other when we would be better served striving for understanding and empathy. I'm just trying to be honest with myself, and I guess I'm hoping if this song can help me focus on that, maybe someone else could find it useful in the same way.
