"Weird Al" Yankovic is mostly known for his comedy songs, from ruthless spoofs to rib-tickling originals. Still, the artist is one hell of a performer even at his most sincere, as he's proven with a new Ramones cover.

Backed by Osaka Popstar, Yankovic lent his accordion skills and voice to a cover of Ramones' iconic 1976 track "Beat on the Brat," and the resulting recording is surprisingly badass. You can stream it below.

The song will appear on Covered in Punk, an upcoming Dr. Demento compilation that also features William Shatner, the Vandals and Nobunny, among others. The box set can be pre-ordered here and will arrive on January 12.

As if that weren't enough, Weird Al also put his spin on the Squidbillies theme song. Maybe it's time for Mr. Yankovic to release his own sincere covers album.

Listen to both new tunes below.
