Weezer, Bad Religion, Wintersleep and Rise Against to Play at Edmonton's Sonic Boom Fest
Published Apr 28, 2010The first round of headliners has been announced for the second Sonic Boom Festival, going down in Edmonton, AB on September 4 at the Northlands. And it looks as if event organizers have topped last year's line-up with a pretty rocking assortment of bands from the U.S. and Canada.
The perennially poppy Weezer are going to be rocking the joint, as are punk legends Bad Religion and melodic politico punkers Rise Against. The Canadian contingent is apparently going to help mellow things out a bit after all that rock, consisting as it does of heartmelter City and Colour, Vancouver, BC buzzing indie popsters Mother Mother and mellow Juno winners Wintersleep, but there are still more bands to be announced.
Tickets for the all-ages fest are $69.50 for general admission and $129.50 for VIP (18+), and go on sale Saturday (May 1) at 10 a.m. According to the Sonic Boom website, VIP passes include a souvenir laminate; private bar, washrooms, and other amenities; separate VIP entrance at Bonanza Park; and a grassy lounge area close to stage. Don't forget to bring that ID if you do get VIP passes though, as it's required. More info on how to buy tickets is available here.
