Weekend Announce Slumberland Debut

BY Josiah HughesPublished Sep 30, 2010

Hazy San Francisco post-punk outfit Weekend have only been performing together since late 2009, but in that brief window, they've accomplished more than many bands do in their whole careers, with two long-gone EPs released last year. Now they'll follow it up with a ten-song album.

The LP is called Sports, and will be released by legendary noise pop imprint Slumberland Records on November 9. As a press release puts it, the band lies "within a grainy film-still between a summer sunset and the end of times…The band filters the aggression, tempo and sneer of punk through a wall of reverb, haunting melody, feedback and primitive garage guitar."

Three tracks from the album, "Coma Summer," "Youth Haunts" and "End Times" can be streamed on Weekend's MySpace page here. To prove that the album is on its way, the band posted a video of it being pressed to splattered vinyl, which can be viewed below.

In addition to the album, Weekend will be embarking on a West coast tour with the Pains of Being Pure at Heart this November. That run will include one Vancouver show at the Venue on November 4. All dates are available below.
