Wavves Sign On to Score New MTV Series, Set to Perform with GZA

The release of Wavves' new guest-heavy EP, Life Sux, is coming up on September 20, but fans won't have to wait long for even more new music from songwriter Nathan Williams.

As a press release confirms, the bratty pop punker has signed on to write the score for new MTV show I Just Want My Pants Back.

Williams is credited as a "guest composer" and Nic Harcourt will serve as music supervisor for the series. Williams reportedly assembled a whopping 20 songs in two days after being shown the pilot -- some from demos, some brand new. The cuts from Life Sux will be included in the score, including the awesomely titled "I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl."

You'll hear that song if you check out the pilot when it airs this Sunday (August 28) after the MTV Video Music Awards. As for the rest of the series, it will begin in 2012.

In truly modern fashion, the show will have a soundtrack blog, where playlists will be posted each week. You'll be able to get "Grohl" for free after the pilot airs.

The show is based on the 2007 novel of the same name by David J. Rosen. It concerns a post-collegiate 20-something who loses his favourite pair of pants after a hookup and spends the rest of the story crossing paths with friends while attempting to retrieve the prized article of clothing.

In some related news, Wavves will perform with Wu-Tang legend GZA tonight (August 25) on Fuel TV, taking on the rapper's classic "Liquid Swords." The performance is set for 8 p.m. PST/11 p.m. EST, but we're guessing if you miss it, a video will show up online eventually.
