For over a quarter of a century, the Fat Wreck Chords label has specialized in majorly successful punk while still retaining its DIY values. As previously reported in 2014, that story is being in explored with a new documentary. Today (March 21), we get our first official taste of the film.
The movie is called A Fat Wreck and was directed by Shaun Colón following an extremely successful Indiegogo campaign. The film was written by frequent Exclaim! contributor Greg Pratt.
The film boasts plenty of talking head interviews with label founders (and former married couple) Fat Mike and Erin Burkett, along with Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace and members of Lagwagon, Good Riddance, No Use for a Name, Propagandhi and others.
To break from the mould a little, the film also includes both cartoon elements and puppet segments.
A Fat Wreck will premiere at the Dallas International Film Festival in April, which will be followed by a festival run. More information on the film is available here.
