Watch SZA Deliver a Speech to Her High School in New Jersey

She also performed "The Weekend"

SZA was recently pulled off the TDE "Championship Tour" due to damaged vocal cords, but she sounded just fine when she returned to her high school to deliver a speech yesterday (June 4).

The singer was inducted into the hall of fame at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ — which also happens to be the alma mater of Lauryn Hill.

The 2008 graduate spoke to current students, encouraging them to follow their daydreams and trust their instincts, even when people tell them they're too young.

Following the inspirational pep talk, SZA proved that she's still got vocal chops, performing "The Weekend" for the CHS auditorium. Luckily, there wasn't too much stress on the singer's vocal cords, since every kid there seemed to be screaming along to every word.

Watch student-captured footage from the ceremony below.
