Snail Mail's Valentine Fest has delivered on the collaborative cover front. While Lindsay Jordan and Soccer Mommy took us by the hand, took us somewhere new on Saturday night (February 11), Mac DeMarco joined Jordan onstage on Monday (February 13) to play a few tracks.
After performing their one-off single "A Cuckhold's Refrain - Peppermint Patty," DeMarco and Jordan broke out into a cover of "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" by Talking Heads — a solid choice for Valentine Fest, since it tops this writer's list of favourite love songs. Joined by many others onstage, everyone was dancing around and having a pretty good time.
In support of Snail Mail's latest record Valentine, the aptly-named Valentine Fest wrapped up last night (February 14) after a five-night residency at Baltimore's Ottobar. Yesterday's festivities had its own special guest, with Waxahatchee coming out to cover "When You Were Young" by the Killers.
Watch footage of both covers below.
