Drake has been giving his hometown of Toronto plenty of love this summer, following a surprise performance at a Canada Day celebration and unveiling a replica of the CN Tower during his annual OVO Fest. Looks as if he's keeping the surprises coming, making an unannounced appearance last night (August 24) at the Velvet Underground to support collaborator Jorja Smith.
The 20-year-old R&B singer was thrust into the spotlight earlier this year after being featured on Drake's More Life project. Last night's show marked Smith's live Toronto debut, and she and Drake kicked off the encore with a performance of More Life track "Get It Together."
The ever-benevolent 6 God made sure to keep the spotlight on Smith, informing the crowd that she's "probably one of the most incredible voices, incredible talents and incredible humans" he knows.
Since Smith's appearance on More Life, she and Drake have been a rumoured item, and this appearance certainly adds plenty of fuel to the fire.
