Watch a Post-Retirement Phil Collins Play "In the Air Tonight" with the Roots

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 26, 2016

Phil Collins announced last year that he was officially coming out of retirement, then revealed plans for a memoir titled Not Dead Yet. The autobiographical book hit shelves yesterday (October 25), and to mark the occasion, Collins dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Collins took a seat to be interviewed by Fallon, chatting about his sons (and revealing that his 14-year-old would be playing drums for his upcoming European tour dates) and dispelling the popular origin story behind "In the Air Tonight."

The real treat wasn't Fallon's terrible air drum rendition of the song, but rather the performance from Collins that followed. He was joined by the Roots and did a fine job of resurrecting the classic tune.

Check out the performance, as well as an interview clip, down below.
