Walls' Alessio Natalizia Shines a Light on Italy's Electronic & New Wave Underground for New Strut Comp

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 17, 2013

Walls may not have issued an LP since 2011's Coracle, but the UK-based electronic outfit's Alessio Natalizia is ready to rep his home country's classic new wave scene via a compilation called Mutazione: Italian Electronic & New Wave Underground 1980-1988.

The double-CD set, which Strut Records delivers August 2, was compiled by Natalizia and features tracks from Neon, Rats, Suicide Dada, Maurizio Bianchi, Die Form and more.

Apparently the curator wanted to reflect how Italy had more to offer from this time period than Italo disco. A statement from Natalizia added that he's showcasing "the most exciting music to emerge from Italy over the last 30 years and, since much of it was originally released in such limited quantities, it has remained relatively undocumented until now."

The release will also feature liner notes from Italian culture critics Andrea Pomini and Alberto Campo, and feature a number of era-specific photos, as well as artwork from the original releases. You can see the tracklisting down below.
