Venues Urge Concertgoers to Print Their Tickets Amid Rogers Outage

The outage has affected cell service, internet, debit transactions and more

As you likely already know (and may or may not be affected by), Rogers is currently suffering a massive nationwide outage, complicating a lot of people's lives and proving yet again that major corporate monopolization of an industry is probably (definitely) not the best way to do things.

In the midst of this outage — which affects cell service (including the ability to call 911), internet, and debit transactions — venues are urging concertgoers to print their tickets or save them to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay features to ensure that they can be accessed at the venue.

As noted by CP24, Toronto's Scotiabank Arena is suggesting that those planning to attend tonight's Roger Waters show save their mobile tickets to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay, while Massey Hall has encouraged fans to print their tickets for comedian Hannah Gadsby's Friday night show. The same urging's been made by Budweiser Stage, where Keith Urban is set to perform.

In that same line of thinking, it's a good idea to find out whether any venues you plan to attend are cashless and be sure to bring a credit card, as debit transactions won't be possible.

It's currently unclear how long the outage is expected to last, but Rogers tweeted that their "technical teams are working to restore our services alongside our global technology partners, and are making progress."
