"Uh Uh Yeah Yeah" (ft. Sole, Awol One, Louis Logic)

Here's something you may not have expected out of a member of Regina, SK-based indie rock collective Library Voices: the band's Michael Dawson has teamed up with producer Factor to launch a hip-hop project called Vaults.

The duo have just released a new track called "Uh Uh Yeah Yeah" on Bandcamp. It features input from an impressive array of rappers, including Sole, Awol One, Ceschi, Louis Logic, Kirby Dominant and Isaiah the Toothtaker, plus members of Prairie bands like Foam Lake, Reform Party and Jeans Boots.

A statement accompanying the track notes, "The duo is the first to admit that the very idea of a rap/rock collaboration is inherently flawed. Don't expect braided goatees and 6 string basses."

Rather, the production sound is said to fall somewhere between Neutral Milk Hotel's In the Aeroplane over the Sea and De La Soul's Buhloone Mindstate.

Take a listen below, and expect to hear more from Vaults in 2012.

On a related note, Library Voices are currently on a North American tour, which includes stops this week at SXSW. Check all their dates here.
