It's kind of shocking to see an 80-minute compilation of Polish metal that doesn't include Vader, Decapitated or Yattering, but such is the case with this lengthy and laborious compilation from Metal Mind. It must be said that for 21 tracks, there's surprisingly few sleepers here; the ludicrously titled "The Descent Into Medieval Darkness" by Profanum is the main offender. Elsewhere, one can find shredding death metal of the highest calibre from heirs to the throne Hate and Lost Soul, Gothenburg thrash courtesy of Elysium and quality black metal from Demise. Compilations usually crash and burn by the time they're half finished, but thanks to a nice variety and a good, consistent production sound, this one is a great overview of the extreme music scene in Poland.
