Stereogum Presents... OKX: A Tribute To OK Computer

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jul 11, 2007

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Radiohead's monumental OK Computer, the always enjoyable Stereogum blog was nice enough to gather an ideal selection of artists to recreate the best album of the '90s. (Yes, I did just go there!). Thankfully, acts such as Cold War Kids, My Brightest Diamond, Mobius Band and Vampire Weekend knew better than to cover their songs straight, though the Twilight Sad come close to the original "Electioneering," but it still sounds damn good, thanks to that burly Glaswegian scream of James Graham's. An extra shout out goes to former Pedro the Lion dude David Bazan and his Black Cloud for giving OK Computer's highlight "Let Down" the delicate attention it deserves. Stereogum notes that the mp3s are only up for a limited time, since there are rights involved, but something tells me there is a complete version somewhere online (hint hint). Also included are some nice personal messages by each artist sharing their reasons for picking the songs, as well as explaining the importance of the album itself. How nice.
