Vancouver's Sigh Showcase Indie Rock Sweetness on 'Images'

Listen to the debut album now

Vancouver indie rock combo Sigh — not to be confused with the Japanese extreme metal band — have been quietly picking up steam for the past year or so, and now they've dropped their first album. Images is available to hear in full.

Sigh features members of some other notable Vancouver bands: singer Dorothy Neufeld also fronts Swim Team, while guitarist Shelby Vredik plays in Dumb. Compared to those skronky post-punk groups, however, Images takes a slightly sweeter approach to indie rock.

Opener "Dusty Rose" injects a touch of shoegaze into its fuzzy strums and reverb-blurred riffs, while "Hydra" drifts away with dreamy wordless vocal breaks, and "Hatch" resembles a classic sock-hop chord progression sent through an echo pedal.

Images was self-recorded and self-mixed, with mastering handled by Dumb's Nick Short. It's a relatively short release, its seven songs falling somewhere between an EP and a short album.

It's being released to coincide with Sigh's first-ever tour. See the dates below, and stream Images below that.
