Olivia Quan, a recording engineer known for her work with City and Colour, Hey Ocean! and more, has died. She was 25.

Quan died earlier this month, on July 1. The news was shared by Monarch Studios, where she had been working since 2016. "The potential of this young woman and the accomplishments she had already achieved at the age of only 25 are truly remarkable," the company noted in a tribute post. "Attending the Juno awards this year with 3 projects nominated gives only a small hint of the great success that was in Olivia's future."

No cause of death has been made public. According to the post from Monarch, a memorial event is being planned.

UPDATE (7/8, 12:15 p.m. ET): Monarch Studios has now confirmed that Quan died of natural causes. She experienced a brain bleed while working in bed. The studio wrote on Instagram, "We take comfort in the fact that we have been told she most likely lost consciousness immediately and died without prolonged discomfort." See the full post below.

Olivia Quan's selected discography is listed on her website, and it includes credits as an engineer, producer and mixer. She worked on releases by City and Colour, Leisure Club, David Ward, Hey Ocean!, Desirée Dawson, Mathew V, Amanda Sum, Luca Fogale, Sam Lynch and more.

In an Instagram story, Said the Whale noted that they had worked with Quan several times, and called her death a "devastating loss from the Vancouver music community."
