Van Morrison Announces 'Duets: Re-Working the Catalogue' LP
Back in December, songwriting legend Van Morrison signed with RCA Records with promises that a new album would arrive in early 2015. Sure enough, he has now announced his latest LP. This will arrive on March 24 in the form of Duets: Re-Working the Catalogue.

This album offers exactly what it says on the tin: old songs from Van Morrison's catalogue as reimagined with new duet partners. Some of these are classic vets like Mavis Staples, Mark Knopfler, Taj Mahal, Steve Winwood, George Benson and the late Bobby Womack. Morrison even got P.J. Proby to sing on the 2002 song "Whatever Happened to P.J. Proby?"

There is also a small handful of younger singers, including Michael Bublé and Joss Stone. Furthermore, Van's daughter Shana sings on a track.

The album avoids Van the Man's best-known songs, meaning that there's no "Brown Eyed Girl" or "Gloria." Instead, it features a selection of lesser-known faves from throughout his career. The new versions were captured in the UK in Belfast and London over the last year, with production handled by Don Was and Bob Rock, along with Van himself. A press release promises "fresh arrangements" for the old tunes.
