Sorry, folks, despite our earlier report, it seems the Chemical Brothers wont be producing MGMTs sophomore album after all. On MGMTs MySpace blog, the band wrote: "Contrary to another internet rumour, though they be rad dudes, the Chemical Brothers will not be producing MGMT's next album."
However, the Chemical Brothers may still be producing one track on MGMTs next album, at least according to the folks at the Guardian. Also, MGMT didnt say anything about the new record not being a double, as we previously reported, with one side coated in sickly sweet pop songs and the other tripped out in psychedelia.
In related MGMT news, the guys have lined up a whole pile of fall/winter tour dates, which find them in Toronto on October 5 and Montreal on October 6, alongside Beck. Also in there is a performance with outsider folk man Bobb Trimble in New York City on October 30. And considering Trimble plays, like, never, it would be worth your while to check him out if you are around.
