In the face of manufacturing crisis, Tyler, the Creator delivered a vinyl version of his acclaimed CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST earlier this month, and its release has propelled the LP back to the top of the charts while setting a vinyl sales record in the process.

According to music data company Luminate [via Billboard], Tyler, the Creator's sixth studio effort sold 59,000 album units in the US in the week ending April 21, an increase of 507%. Of that sales figure, 51,000 units were traditional album sales — 49,500 of them vinyl LPs.

The sale of 49,500 copies of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, available exclusively via the artist's online store, marks the largest sales week for a hip-hop album on vinyl, or for a solo male album on vinyl, since Luminate began tracking music sales in 1991. Previously, the largest sales week for a hip-hop album on vinyl was an honour held by Kid Cudi, who released his Man on the Moon III: The Chosen in December 2020 to 41,500 copies sold.

Tyler first announced the vinyl edition of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST on April 6, subsequently announcing that it would be available internationally as of April 15. The 2xLP edition follows CD and cassette releases that arrived in 2021.

CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST's vinyl debut also led the album to jump from No. 120 to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated April 30), marking its second nonconsecutive week on top following its No. 1 debut on the July 10, 2021-dated chart.

Additionally, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST's arrival in vinyl format marks the ninth largest sales week for a vinyl album since Luminate began tracking music sales in 1991. Overall, the largest vinyl sales week since that year belongs to Taylor Swift's Red (Taylor's Version), which sold 114,000 copies in its opening week last November and we hope you're playing at the correct speed.

CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST was one of Exclaim!'s 50 Best Albums of 2021, and also had tracks amongst Exclaim!'s 30 Best Songs of 2021. Earlier this month, the release was named Best Rap Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
