Tyler, the Creator Says Earl Sweatshirt Collaboration EarlWolf Probably Won't Happen

BY Josiah HughesPublished Mar 30, 2014

Arguably the two most popular rappers in the Odd Future collective, Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt have been hinting at a full-length album collaboration under the EarlWolf moniker for years. Though they've toured together under that banner, Tyler has now cast doubt that the release will ever surface.

After Tweeting that the project wasn't going to happen, a fan reached out to Tyler, the Creator on his spring.me page. "Damn were you serious on twitter that Earlwolf isn't gonna happen? Earl seemed sure about in a couple of interviews," user felix1234s asked.

Tyler, the Creator confirmed that he doesn't want to bother with the project because of the hype surrounding it. He also fell back on some of the unfortunate slurs he's become known for. Here's his statement in full:

im serious. i dont want to do it anymore and to be honest it will never live up to the expectations of people that really want it. not that that really matters, but, im not in the mindframe to do a whole album of that shit. i dont want to do it. maybe one day when i dont want to make clothing and furniture and gay ass fruity music about lakes and shit, ill get back around to hard hitting raps, but the way things are looking, its only gonna get worse until i turn full fag.

In an interview with NME last year, Earl Sweatshirt said they planned to record the album this year. "We'll do the record when we're ready to sit down for a month and a half and do it in one. It'd be shitty if it was spread out."
