Trust, Beach House and Constantines Lead This Week's Can't Miss Concerts

Melodic metallers Amon Amarth bring their crushing music and fantastical lyrics of mythology to Canada for a string of dates this week. After coming up the west coast of the United States, the band will make their way east from Vancouver with stops in Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. Adding to the heavy metal mayhem are tour partners Skeletonwitch and Sabaton, forming a formidable three-band bill.

Dreamy duo Beach House continue their coast to coast trek of Canada this week, having finally reached the centre of the country. Leading off the homestretch of their Northern Exposure tour into the month of October, they are booked for two back-to-back dates at Lee's Palace in Toronto and an appearance at Ottawa's Bronson Centre on October 5.

Canadian indie darlings Constantines continue their reunion dates with a few dates in their homeland to start the month. After two back-to-back dates at Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on October 2 and 3, they then make their way to Montreal for an October 4 engagement at Club Soda. The band then head westward for a performance at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on October 8. Having delighted audiences around the country since the tour began, these dates aren't ones to miss.

Rhymesayers rapper Grieves is appearing in western Canada for a handful of dates in support of his 2014 record Winter & The Wolves. All part of his A Different Kind of Wild tour, the Seattle emcee has plotted out dates in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. He will be joined at each show of the tour by fellow Seattle spitter Sol.

In celebration of his iconic debut record Illmatic, New York hip-hop legend Nas is bringing the Time Is Illmatic tour to Toronto for an evening at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Starting earlier in the evening, one can watch the recently released documentary that the tour takes its namesake from before watching the rapper perform the record that started it all in its entirety. It's proving to be one of the hottest tickets in town that night, so consider yourself lucky if you manage to get your hands on one.

The New Pornographers
Even without longtime drummer Kurt Dahle, the New Pornographersare continuing on with the tour cycle for their recently released sixth studio effort, Brill Bruisers. The Vancouver group return to their home province for two dates at the Commodore Ballroom to start the month on October 3 and 4. Both evenings will see support from COOL TV, while Pickwick and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart will be on hand for the first and second date, respectively.

Synth-pop outfit TR/ST, headed up by Robert Alfons, are headed eastward on their current tour cycle. Alfons and his touring members will visit the Gateway on October 3 in Calgary, before heading to the Pawn Shop in Edmonton on October 4, Amigo's Cantina in Saskatoon on October 5 and Winnipeg's Union Sound Hall on October 7.
