Trip Phoenix

Starchild

BY Michael EdwardsPublished Nov 1, 2004

As a member of Medicine Men, Montreal-born Trip Phoenix (which probably isn’t his real name) spent nine years in New York before heading back to Canada. These days, he’s making Toronto his home and is currently a double threat, splitting his time between acting and music. When it comes to acting though, his résumé is littered with such "gems” as New York Minute, How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days and Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen. Fortunately his choice in music is better than his choice in movies and Starchild tries its utmost to emulate some of his musical heroes including David Bowie and Marc Bolan. Starchild, a five-song EP, is not a bad record, although it lacks that certain something to elevate above the rest of the pack. So it doesn’t look like he will be able to give up his day job just yet. Word is that his live show is a lot more impressive so that might be the best way to experience Trip Phoenix.
