Transmission Sublimity

Transmission Sublimity
Transmission are a band with an impressive heritage, with members associated with the likes of the Verve, Killing Joke and the Orb, at one time or another. That translates into a level of experience that's obvious because they make music that oozes confidence. Sublimity is an easy album to admire but not the easiest to like because its bombastic arrangements are exhausting. For example, opening track "Albion" rumbles along on dub-y bass for what seems like an eternity, even though it clocks in at less than five minutes. The main problem is that the songs don't go anywhere with any sort of purpose, even on the shorter tracks. There is no building to a climax or a payoff at the end - they just end. They aren't short of atmosphere though and anyone looking for big gothic soundscapes will find something to enjoy on Sublimity . (Malicious Damage)
