Disgraced Brampton rapper Tory Lanez — who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot — was rushed to the hospital earlier this month after being stabbed 14 times. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has since been transferred to a different correctional facility.

Lanez's assailant has now spoken out about the incident, claiming to TMZ that he acted in self-defence. Santino Casio, who was already serving a life sentence for murder ahead of the attack, said that he heard through the prison rumour mill that the rapper was planning to attack him and had put a bounty on his head. Casio also thought that he saw a lump in Lanez's pocket when they had crossed paths, and suspected that he had a weapon.

Casio claimed he wasn't trying to kill the rapper, and that they had a decent relationship in their neighbouring cells at the California Correctional Facility in Tehachapi, CA, prior to the incident — from which the assailant alleged that he ended up with a stab wound in his leg, reinforcing his suspicions that Lanez had a weapon.

After the stabbing, Drake shared a Change.org petition advocating for Lanez's freedom.
