Tortoise, Trans Am, the Sea and Cake Back Catalogues to Be Revisited Through Thrill Jockey Vinyl Reissues

This year marks the 20th anniversary of venerable Chicago imprint Thrill Jockey, and the record label is celebrating the feat by spending 2012 reissuing the back catalogue of some of its most beloved artists, including Tortoise, the Sea and Cake and Trans Am.

The Wire reports that while the specifics have yet to drop, Thrill Jockey will deliver a number of reissues throughout 2012. In regards to experimental post-rock heroes Tortoise, it seems as if the bulk of the band's existence will be revisited via newly repressed LPs of their full-lengths: 1994's Tortoise, 1996's Millions Now Living Will Never Die, 1998's TNT, 2001's Standards, 2004's It's All Around You and 2009's Beacons of Ancestorship.

Linked project the Sea and Cake is also said to be part of the celebration, with planned reissues running from their 1994 self-titled debut up to 2003's One Bedroom. Sea and Cake frontman Sam Prekop will have his two solo sets touched up as well.

The anniversary will apparently also find the imprint doling out represses of albums by Trans Am, White Hills, Freakwater, V3, Directions in Music, Daniel Higgs, the Fiery Furnaces and more. Details are scant at this point, with release dates unclear, but the LPs are said to arrive with download codes. More news is surely soon to arrive.
