Toronto's the Free Label are on a mission to take back the term "boy band" with their blend of hip-hop and pop, and today they're teaming with Spanish-Canadian vocalist Oleyada for a new single "Up in Flames." Exclaim! has the premiere of the track's new lyric video.
"Up in Flames" is a mellow, synth-driven R&B slow jam, with singer Josh Daniel's sultry crooning intermingling with Oleyada's duet coos. It's a very sexy, seductive exploration of some apocalyptic, heartbroken themes.
As for the accompanying lyric video, coronavirus lockdown forced the Free Label to get creative, so they recruited some friends and fans to film themselves dancing and lip-syncing. It's a lighthearted, frequently funny expression of community.
In a statement, the band explained:
We thought that making this video with our friends would alleviate some of the uncertainty we are all feeling right now. We wanted to do something fun that would bring people together and spend some of the free time we now have. We always wanted to do a music video with a bit more community, and this became the perfect chance to do it.
