Toronto's SummerWorks Performance Festival Gets Buck 65, Bry Webb, Hawksley Workman for Music Series

Just in case you thought your summer schedule already was chock-a-block with festivals and concert series, here's another one that will be coming to Toronto in August. The SummerWorks Performance Festival just unveiled its Music Series lineup, which will be taking place from August 9 to 19.

While the festival focuses primarily on theatre, there is also no shortage of stellar musical acts. Performers include former Constantines member Bry Webb, Doug Paisley, Hawksley Workman, Buck 65, Sandro Perri, Evening Hymns, the Magic, Aline Morales, Maylee Todd, and Dan Werb of Woodhands.

Some of these acts will be making unconventional appearances alongside artists from different performance-based disciplines. For example, Workman will be performing what a press release calls a "work-in-progress collaboration" with theatre director Christian Barry called The God That Comes, which is said to be "an original one-man-band rock'n'roll cabaret."

Elsewhere, Buck 65 will take the stage with dance artist Ame Henderson, while the Magic will team up with Todd, Werb and film/theatre director Jordan Tannahill for a "space-disco-pop party inspired by variety dance shows from the '70s and '80s." Finally, Evening Hymns will be accompanied by a video/art installation from designer Sean Frey.

Music Series tickets cost $15 to $20, and you can get more information over at the SummerWorks website.
