Toronto's Luminato Festival Adds Jason Collett, Kid Koala, Tim Hecker to 2015 Edition

We've already learned that Toronto's Luminato Festival would feature David Byrne's star-studded Contemporary Color performance, but there's much more to enjoy at this year's multidisciplinary arts fest, which runs from June 19 to 28.

Jason Collett will return with his popular Basement Revue series, which sees him curate 10 straight nights of literary and musical talent at Festival Hub. The performers for each night are kept secret until they hit the stage, adding a sense of mystery to the event.

Kid Koala will host a "satellite concert," which sees audience members sectioned off into groups of four. A press release explains that they'll each have "a turntable, effects box and a small crate of colour coded vinyl records." Spurred by "subtle coloured lighting changes," they'll create the performance themselves. More information on that event is available here.

Krakow's experimental Unsound Festival will also set up shop at the event, offering two days of programming. On June 19, Stars of the Lid will team up with Robert Henke to present a sequel to Lumière. Tim Hecker will bookend the night by debuting a new piece called Ephemera, which sees him working with a lighting artist and a perfumist.

The second night of Unsound will feature performances from the legendary Morton Subotnick along with AtomTM and Ben Frost.

As previously reported, David Byrne's Contemporary Color event will feature performances from Ad-Rock, Money Mark, St. Vincent, Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange), tUnE-yArDs, Nico Muhly, Ira Glass, How to Dress Well, Kelis, Nelly Furtado and Lucius, along with David Byrne himself.
