Toronto DJ, artist and label founder Jason Ulrich has died. His cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Inspired by Toronto's mid-'80s dance scene, Ulrich started hosting parties in the mid-1990s, DJing using his extensive record collection of techno and dance music, and quickly became a staple of Toronto's dance scene.
During his career as a DJ, Ulrich opened for artists like Theo Parrish, Francois K, Ron Trent, and Danny Krivit. In 2013, Ulrich teamed up with Stuart Li to found the deep house/techno label Lab.our. He'd been releasing his own material since 2014.
Alongside his work as a DJ, Ulrich also designed album artwork for several Canadian artists, particularly for those signed to Toronto's Do Right! Music. His designs have been used by artists like Dawn Pemberton and Maylee Todd.

So sad to hear about the passing of DJ J-UL, Jason Ulrich, of Toronto. A kind and gentile person and a true-school music lover, RIP. Love and respect to him and his family.
