Tool's Maynard James Keenan Signs Book Deal for Memoirs

When will the world see a new Tool album? At this point, who the hell knows, but in the meanwhile, fans will able to learn all about frontman Maynard James Keenan thanks to a biography that will be coming out next year.

The news was shared by Keenan's band Puscifer, who posted the following announcement on Facebook from the book's writer Sarah Jensen. The post reads:

And away we go!
Sarah Jensen wrote:
"We have, as they say, inked the deal.
It's been a year-long journey of proposals and queries and nibbles and "nope"s, but my amazing agent, Ann Collette, never lost faith in the dream.
The agreement with Backbeat Books is a reality, and the biography of Maynard Keenan is slated for publication next fall.
Lots of work still to be done, but today's priority: feeling grateful to everybody who's been there for us throughout this project. That means you!"

Back in 2013, the singer told Australia's Triple J radio station [via the Tool fan-site Fourtheye], "I'm working on a friend of mine named Sarah. She's the 10-year-older sister of my high-school buddy. She writes and lives in Boston. [It's been] a long, tedious process, so we'll see what happens."

Keenan admitted, though, that he hadn't enjoyed the process of delving through his past.

Listen to the 2013 interview below; the comments about the biography begin at the 7:08 mark.

Look for the tome to land next fall through Backbeat Books, a publisher than specializes in music books.

The book is likely to be an interesting one. In addition to fronting Tool and Puscifer, Keenan has served in the army, acted in sketch comedy, and run his own vineyard and winery.

Puscifer's new album Money Shot arrives on October 30. See their tour schedule here.
