Earlier this month, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan confirmed that the band had completed recording a long-awaited new album. Now, drummer Danny Carey has indicated when the new effort might see release.

Carey was asked by a fan about the album's status during an autograph session at annual music convention NAMM this past weekend. In a clip shared to YouTube, which you can see below, Carey answers the fan, "Yeah, it's gonna be out in mid-April. That's the plan, anyway."

Metal Injection also points out that some friends of the band have had previews played for them by Carey, as per an Instagram post you can also find below.

Tool's new album has yet to receive an official release date. At a fan clinic event last year, the band confirmed that every song on the LP is runs over 10 minutes in length.

Last year, Keenan and his bandmates in A Perfect Circle released Eat the Elephant, which marked their first album in 14 years.
