Tom Waits Photography Book by Anton Corbijn Due This Spring
If you've been waiting for that long-delayed Tom Waits photo book by Anton Corbijn to arrive, then we've got some good news for you: Waits/Corbijn '77-'11 is finally due to be released on May 8 through publisher Schirmer-Mosel.

The 226 photos in this linen-bound coffee table book span more than three decades. Corbijn first shot Waits in Holland in 1977, at which point the photographer was in the early stages of his career. According to a press release, Waits' persona helped Corbijn to establish his own cinematic style of photography.

Waits said in a statement, "Anton picks up a small black box, points it at you and all the leaves fall from the trees. The shadows now are long and scary, the house looks completely abandoned and I look like a handsome… undertaker. I love working with Anton, he's someone with a real point of view. Believe me, I won't go jumping off rocks wearing only a Dracula cape for just anyone."

In addition to Corbijn's shots, the book includes more than 50 pages' worth of words and photos by Waits himself. This short collection is called Curiosities. Additionally, the tome has introductions by filmmaker/musician Jim Jarmusch and rock critic Robert Christgau.

Waits/Corbijn '77-'11 is limited to 6,600 copies. It has been in the works for several years.
