The sun finally came out on Saturday to greet Tokyo Police Club on the Main Stage at Royal Athletic Park. Spirits were high as the band took the stage with a brief hello from Dave Monks, but the set trudged along from there — never flailing, but never really picking up steam either, and only eliciting a lacklustre response from the crowd. At one point Monks scanned the crowd before asking, "Is anyone alive out there?" He was met with a half-hearted cheer.

Technically they sounded spot on, but their indie-rock charm wasn't enough to win over watchers. More than halfway into the set, "Be Good" started up and something clicked, with the crowd taking notice and throwing their hands up. The upbeat track held carried more weight than the newer material they were playing; perhaps the audience needed the nostalgia to connect. By the time they did, though, there were only a few songs left in the set. The momentum Tokyo Police Club had finally picked up was short-lived and the listless crowd started to filter out to the next stage.
