Titus Andronicus Sign to Merge for New Album, Share 'Dimed Out'
New Jersey-bred, Brooklyn-based indie punk outfit Titus Andronicus announced plans to follow up 2012's Local Business with a 7-inch series, but have been laying relatively low since the singles arrived last summer. Now, the band have unveiled plans for a new full-length, titled The Most Lamentable Tragedy.
The new record will arrive on July 28 via Merge Records. Frontman Patrick Stickles alluded to the band's new partnership with the label, posting a photo of a Merge sticker to his Instagram account this morning (April 30).
The album marks the fourth from the band, and takes the form of a rock opera in five acts. It will be released as a digital download, double CD, and triple LP. Leading up to the release, Titus Andronicus will play a five-night run at Shea Stadium in their current home base of Brooklyn.
The first single "Dimed Out" is appropriately dramatic, and arrived online this morning. You can hear it while watching the accompanying lyric video in the player below. The clip was directed by Stickles.
