Titans Eve, Black Wizard, Ancients Unite for Anti-Hockey Riot Charity Gig in Vancouver

Last month, the streets of downtown Vancouver erupted into a bizarre orgy of fire, overturned cars and broken glass following the Canucks' loss to the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup finals. While the confounding free-for-all has already been shamed in international media and by a number of musicians, many locals helped clean up the debris in a show of civic pride. Now a handful of 604-area bands are hoping to do their part though an upcoming charity gig.

On July 13, Vancouver's Fortune Sound Club will host "Riffs Not Riots," a night that will celebrate the city through its vibrant metal scene. According to a press release, the show aims to "honour the heroic citizens of Vancouver that stood up against the hockey riots that took place last month."

Acts lined up include Titans Eve (pictured), Black Wizard, Ancients, Galgamex, Weirding, Abriosis, Depressing and Anion. Proceeds from the event will go to Canucks for Kids Fund, a charity dedicated to assist "children's health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey, and facilitate and encourage education in British Columbia."

In a statement, Titans Eve drummer Casey Ory said, "Titans Eve is honoured to share the stage with all the other great bands playing this event. We stand united with them, the organizers and everyone else who opposes mindless, opportunistic violence. As well as to show to those outside of Vancouver, that the vast majority of us have pride in our city and only want good things for it."

Titans Eve will headline the show, which acts as their homecoming gig following a two-month tour behind their latest disc, The Divine Equal. Check the rest of the dates below.
