Thom Yorke Shares New Clip of Music from "City Rats" Art Installation

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 19, 2018

Thom Yorke often stays busy with side and solo projects outside of his main gig as frontman of Radiohead, and his latest musical output has arrived in the form of an art installation.

Dubbed "City Rats," the project is a collaboration between Yorke and audio-visual artist Tarik Barri that features distorted and looping video fragments of Yorke's singing, which constantly move around the space via 54 speakers and six screens.

"The audience is taken on a flight exploring this universe in audiovisual surround, as their path determines the melodies and atmospheres they will encounter," a description of the exhibition reads. "The experience combines elements of music and cinema, but at its core is a different entity altogether."

The project was commissioned by Berlin's Institute for Sound and Music, and was designed specifically for the ISM Hexadome — an immersive art and technology space at the Martin-Gropius-Bau museum in Berlin.
