They only formed in August, but Them Crooked Vultures have already taken the world by storm. The rock'n'roll supergroup, which features the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, spent the latter portion of 2009 releasing their debut album and touring North America. Now, the group have revealed they're already planning a follow-up release.
Speaking with BBC 6 Music, Dave Grohl said that, despite their day jobs, the band don't have plans to split any time soon. "We talk about making another record. I don't know when we'll do it or where or how, but it's not something I would ever wanna stop doing, that's for sure," he said.
Grohl goes on to explain that he initially thought the group would be a more casual side-project. "To be completely honest, when we first started this, I thought, 'Wow, I am excited to do a project where we don't go on tour and do interviews.' After we started recording it was apparent, we knew this is a band, this isn't really a project. The more we play and the longer we do this the better it gets. You'd be crazy not to wanna do it, it's incredible."
Hopefully things will go a little easier the second time they enter the studio. Canoe points to a Wenn interview with Homme where he talks about a mysterious arrest that interfered with the recording of their debut.
"I got arrested on the third day of our session," Homme said in the interview. "It was total bull, because I really was just hanging out, you know? When I got out of jail, we were recording that day, so I told the guys, 'Look, I haven't had that much sleep, it's going take me a sec to get my thing together.' And to not have one look of judgement was very cool. I gotta be just who I am, because I don't know who else to be.""
