Just days after releasing his new video for "Out of Time," the Weeknd has announced a limited pressing of the track as a 12-inch single on an unusual medium: a functional saw blade.
Only 25 copies of the unique record will be auctioned off, with bids starting at $1,000 USD via VinylBlade. The auction is open until tomorrow (April 8) at 1 p.m. ET.
A press release states [via The Fader] that the blade can be played on a turntable and used as a tool. "The record grooves are engraved into the copper band via direct metal mastering, which is then inset in the saw blade body," a product description reads.
The saw blade single is a collaboration between the Weeknd and MSCHF, a Brooklyn-based art collective who gained considerable notoriety last year when they partnered with Lil Nas X to sell "Satanic Nikes," which drew ire from right-wing political pundits.
This release also comes days after the Weeknd was announced — along with Swedish House Mafia — as Kanye West's headlining replacements for this year's edition of Coachella.
