The Weeknd has been feeling incredibly generous this year. After donating half a million dollars to Black Lives Matter organizations, the Canadian R&B superstar has now dropped another half a mil on frontline COVID-19 workers in his native Scarborough.

The latest charitable drop comes from sales of the Weeknd's popular XO COVID-19 face masks. Sales of the masks have all been donated, and the Weeknd's Abel Tesfaye has been matching every dollar raised. Today, he officially donated $500,000 to the Scarborough Health Network from the masks.

"I was raised in Scarborough and felt it was important to give back to the community that raised me during the hard times of this pandemic," Tesfaye said.

"Our vibrant and diverse community represents the best of Canada, and we are fortunate to have ambassadors like the Weeknd in our corner," the SHN's president and CEO Elizabeth Buller added. "This gift will help our community hospitals continue to deliver exceptional care for the people of Scarborough in the wake of COVID-19, and demonstrates to our courageous staff and physicians that their critical work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated."

A press release revealed that the Weeknd also made a donation of $500,000 to MusiCares.
