The Unseen Strangers

'Stranger Places' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 28, 2016

Toronto-via-Halifax bluegrass unit the Unseen Strangers are set to explore Stranger Places on their latest album, and Exclaim! is giving you an advanced listen to the new record.

Testing the limits of what can be played on strings, the band recorded the new material live-off-the-floor last year with producer Andrew Collins. As always, they sought to capture their own modern take on a folksy sound, while paying homage to an "incredible lineage of tradition."

Following the peppy opening riffs, rhythms and runs of "Ice Jam," things only continue to gather momentum with "Wicked Lover." The record rolls on with gentler fare like "Square Trance" and "Streets of Our Town," lands a soulful punch with "New Railroad Blues," and then closes out with the plucky, heartfelt "The Best I Can Do."

Hear it all come together by giving the album an early listen in its entirety right now in the player below before it's officially released on April 1.
