The Penske File Travel Down Memory Lane in "Spin My History" Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 21, 2019

Burlington, ON's Seinfeld-worshipping the Penske File are back with a brand new video for "Spin My History" off last year's Salvation.

"The song revolves around accepting the certainty of death and acknowledging the beauty that can transpire before it," the band's Alex Standen tells Exclaim! "Specifically, it's about watching an older grandparent age and seeing the world through their deteriorating eyes."

To convey the song visually, they brought in James Maunder to direct and edit the clip.

"We wanted the video to somewhat represent this, displaying discomfort through erratic shots with dark/harsh strobe lighting, while also coaxing feelings of contentment and reflection through old family video footage," Standen adds. "We fired up an ol' 8mm reel-to-reel projector, found in one of our basements, rented a strobe light and set all the gear up in my girlfriends bedroom. Voila!"
