The Last Shadow Puppets Cover Leonard Cohen on New EP, Share "Is This What You Wanted" Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 17, 2016

This year saw the Last Shadow Puppets return with Everything You've Come to Expect, but the Alex Turner- and Miles Kane-led project is already set to unveil some new material before the year's end. They've announced a new EP titled The Dream Synopsis, and it'll arrive digitally and on limited-edition red vinyl on December 2 through Domino.

In addition to featuring Everything You've Come to Expect cuts "Aviation" and "The Dream Synopsis," the upcoming EP boasts covers of songs by Jacques Dutronc ("Les Cactus"), the Fall ("Totally Wired"), Glaxo Babies ("This Is Your Life") and Leonard Cohen ("Is This What You Wanted").

The latter has also been given the video treatment. The clip was directed by Focus Creeps, and it finds a slick-looking, sunglasses-wearing Turner taking the mic to deliver his best Cohen, as his backdrop and backing band become increasingly elaborate.

It's not the first time the Last Shadow Puppets have paid homage to a Canadian national treasure. This past summer, Turner improvised a song about Arcade Fire at Oro-Medonte, ON's WayHome festival.
